Water Conservation in the Bath

Earlier, I was watching one of those shows on channels like HGTV and DIYNetwork where they show all these different gadgets and gizmos meant to improve your home, as well as add a little bling.  Well, I saw some pretty weird things for the bathroom.  The one that stood out to me the most was . . .

A sink built into a toilet tank lid.

The point behind this bathroom gadget is water conservation.  Water from the toilet tank runs the sink, and all the water that goes down the drain goes into the toilet boil.  I understand the concept, I understand the conservation, but I still don’t think I could bring myself to use toilet water (be it from the tank or whatever) to wash my hands.

What do you think?

Window Shop For Ideas

Something as simple as window-shopping can produce a wealth of home improvement ideas:

  • Visit manufactured home companies to see ideas about how fireplaces look, wood choices, color choices, bathroom layout’s, and more.
  • Visit home improvement super centers to see a wide variety of kitchen counter and cabinet displays, door and window displays, and gardening set-ups.
  • Check out a garden expo to learn about container gardening, setting up a vegetable garden, planning flower beds, and so on.

Most, if not all, of these locations will have literature available for you to bring home with you.  This literature typically contains pictures, manufacturer’s information, color choices, and so on.  Take as much of it as you can carry (bring a canvas bag if needed) so you can create a system of choices, lists, pro’s and con’s, and wish lists.
