Do you know anything about doing the electrical work in your home?  If the answer is no, or even if the answer is that you are unsure, take the time to learn!

There are home improvement novices who believe they can do just about anything they see on TV.  This is true in some cases (like, adding a wallpaper border around the edge of your kitchen ceiling, for example, or changing a doorknob), but not in the case of wiring.  If you are the type who refuses to hire a contractor, even though a licensed contractor would most likely be in your best interest, here are some links to fill your knowledge bank:

As I have already mentioned, this is just the beginning of filling your knowledge bank.  Take some classes, buy some books, and talk to contractors who have been in the business for a long time.  Before getting your hands into any kind of electrical project, you must know what you are doing.  There is no room for errors when it comes to home improvement projects like this.  The last thing you want to do is learn the hard way!
